* Alien vegetation, such as Port Jackson, wattle, and pine, are a major drain on South Africa's biodiversity, agriculture, and water supply. 
* Removing these alien plants costs South Africa around R2 billion a year. 
* But in the area surrounding Cape St Francis in the Eastern Cape, an army of goats are being deployed to munch all alien plants in their path. 
*This practise has been used in California and Australia to minimise the risk of runaway wildfires.

A research team from Rhodes University and the Port Elizabeth Museum has discovered a new species and genus of snake, and have named them in honour of two reptile scientists (herpetologists) from the Eastern Cape.

Psammophylax is the genus (similar to your surname) name of widespread African snakes commonly referred to as skaapstekers or “sheep‐stabbers”.
