The University of Nairobi (UON) has launched the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA), Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). The centre is one of the 13 ARUA Centers of Excellence that are held across African Universities run on a Hub and Spoke model and is a partnership between five high research-intensive African Universities: The University of Nairobi (Hub), Makerere University (Uganda), the University of Ghana (Ghana), University of Ibadan (Nigeria), and the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa). The Center also collaborates with UK partner universities, among them, the University of Glasgow, and Leicester University.
