Carl Hoffmann (1868-1962) missionary of the Berlin Mission Society (BMS) in South Africa. He was involved with Northern Sotho communities for 46 years, from 1897 to 1943. He was a sensitive artist and authority on Sotho language, history, culture, legends, etc.
